Repsol to Bring Two Polymer Plants Online in Portugal by 2025 July 12, 2021
Repsol said it would build two Polymer materials plants at its Sines Industrial Complex in Portugal, estimated to cost EUR 667 million (USD 792 million), which is the largest industrial investment in the country in the past 10 years. The project includes a Linear Polyethylene plant and a Polypropylene plant, each with a capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year, expected to be operational in 2025.
The units will be the first of their kind in the Iberian Peninsula. The Sines Industrial Complex will also have new logistics facilities, which may be used for future rail transport to the European market.
The project will increase Repol's industrial business and commercial integration synergies, and help integrate and diversify its petrochemical business. It is also part of the company's 2021-2025 strategic plan, which includes a total investment of EUR 18.3 billion and includes numerous projects to upgrade its industrial area.
