Indorama Ventures Polimero has declared force majeure this week at its Poto de Saupe Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) facility in Brazil, following a fire that shut production on August 14.
There were no injuries and no environmental impact from the fire. In a letter to customers, Indorama said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, the material damage, and the actions necessary to restart.
According to Indorama's website, the facility produces 550,000 tonnes/yr of PET.
