CP Chem Declares Force Majeure on HDPE at Texas Facility 11/05/2021
Chevron Phillips Chemical (CP Chem) has declared force majeure (FM) on all High-Density Polyethylene (PE) at its Old Ocean facility in Sweeny, Texas.
In a letter to customers, the company said the Old Ocean facility suffered apparent equipment damage, which delayed start-up of its HDPE unit. The company added that it is working to minimize the impact of the FM and is examining the duration of repairs.
The Old Ocean facility produces Ethylene, Propylene, HDPE, and Linear Low-Density PE. Both PE units can produce 500,000 mt/yr, according to the company's website.
