Higher Energy and Logistics Costs Leads Kraton to Issue Huge Polymers Price Increase
March 10, 2022

Higher energy costs, which have been driven by supply concerns amid the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, has prompted one specialty polymers producer to announce an upcoming price increase for April.

Kraton Corporation, a global producer of styrenic block copolymers, specialty polymers and performance products derived from pine wood pulping co-products, announced today a general price increase of $440/mt USD/MT on all its HSBC polymers, effective April 1.

The company said this price increase was driven by recent significant cost increases in raw materials, energy and logistics costs, and given the unprecedented increases for natural gas costs in Europe, additional energy surcharges will be applied to HSBC polymers produced at its HSBC plant in Berre, France, also effective April 1.
